{"id":1325,"date":"2016-09-21T05:25:45","date_gmt":"2016-09-21T05:25:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cybercom-software.com\/blog\/?p=1325"},"modified":"2016-09-21T05:38:15","modified_gmt":"2016-09-21T05:38:15","slug":"phonepad-version-5-11-0-has-been-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cybercom-software.com\/blog\/phonepad-version-5-11-0-has-been-released\/","title":{"rendered":"PhonePad Version 5.11.0 Has Been Released."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post_content\">\n<div class=\"post_content\">\n<div class=\"post_content\">\n<div class=\"post_content\">\n<div class=\"post_content\">\n<div class=\"post_content\">\n<div class=\"post_content\">\n<p>We are pleased to announce the release of<strong> PhonePad 5.11.0 Server Update<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The main change in this release is the introduction of our new notification system.\u00c2\u00a0 A new notification server is built-in to the PhonePad 5 Server. Whenever there are new messages for a user the notification system will send a notification message to their workstation.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll explain what this means.<\/p>\n<p>Currently PhonePad polls the server for any new messages at a preset interval.\u00c2\u00a0 You can set how frequently PhonePad checks for new messages under <em>Preferences<\/em>, for example every 15 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>With Version 5.11.0 this setting has been moved to <em>System Rules<\/em> so that an administrator can set the checking frequency for every workstation.\u00c2\u00a0 But along with this there&#8217;s also a new option: <em>Dynamic Refresh<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>When you select <em>Dynamic Refresh<\/em>, instead of polling the server for new messages at whatever interval you set, the server will use the notification system to update the Inbox message list whenever a message is sent to a particular user.\u00c2\u00a0 This means that message delivery is now virtually instantaneous.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that the <em>Dynamic Refresh<\/em> functionality is still in Beta.\u00c2\u00a0 Although we have been testing it for a while, it is possible there may be some unfound issues.\u00c2\u00a0 The good news is you can use whichever method you prefer and you can switch methods any time you wish.<\/p>\n<h3>Changes and Fixes<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>ADDED &#8211; New internal notification system for message list refreshing provides instant response &#8211; BETA.<\/li>\n<li>MOVED &#8211; Setting for message list refreshing has been moved from <em>Preferences<\/em> to <em>System Rules<\/em> so that it can be controlled centrally.<\/li>\n<li>FIXED &#8211; When printing, although the Preview option worked fine, the Print option was not working unless preview was used first.<\/li>\n<li>FIXED &#8211; When editing a message, the changes were not being propagated to other users.<\/li>\n<li>FIXED &#8211; AutoBackups were not running when the default schedule was changed.<\/li>\n<li>Various minor fixes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Please note:<\/strong> Server Updates <strong>must<\/strong> be installed on your Server or Host PC, not your workstation (unless your workstation is also the Host PC) \u00e2\u20ac\u201c they <strong>cannot<\/strong> be installed directly on your workstations.\u00c2\u00a0 Workstations will be automatically updated when PhonePad 5 Workstation is started on each workstation.<\/p>\n<p>You can download the update from your <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myphonepad.com\">My PhonePad<\/a> account or by <a href=\"http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/jqxdclg\">clicking here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>These updates are available for both fully licensed users and trial users.<\/p>\n<p>Please contact <a href=\"mailto:support@cybercom-software.com\">Support<\/a> if you have any problems or questions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are pleased to announce the release of PhonePad 5.11.0 Server Update.
