PhonePad has a nifty little feature that allows you to send SMS text messages to any of your clients.<\/p>\n

To do this though, you first need to set some things up.\u00c2\u00a0 We’ll go through that here.<\/p>\n

SMS Gateway Provider<\/h2>\n

First things first.<\/p>\n

We don’t have the infrastructure, capacity or resources to be an SMS Gateway provider, so you’ll need to open an account with a 3rd party provider.<\/p>\n

Currently, PhonePad supports SMS Global<\/a> and Clickatel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Select an SMS Message Provider<\/h2>\n

Once you have your SMS account, you’ll need to set it up in PhonePad.<\/p>\n

  1. Select Communication Settings<\/strong> from the System Admin<\/strong> toolbar.<\/li>\n
  2. Select SMS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Select the appropriate SMS Provider from the drop-down list.<\/li>\n
  4. Enter the details of your SMS account.<\/li>\n
  5. Toggle the Active<\/strong> switch to ON<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  6. Click the OK<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Next, you need to enable access to the SMS feature.<\/p>\n

    1. Select System Rules<\/strong> from the System Admin<\/strong> toolbar.<\/li>\n
    2. Select SMS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    3. Check the Allow users to send messages using SMS<\/strong> checkbox.<\/li>\n
    4. Click the OK<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      \"PhonePad<\/a>\"PhonePad<\/a>Give Individual Users SMS Access<\/h2>\n

      In the section above we enabled general SMS access to users, but there is one final step to give user access.\u00c2\u00a0 You have to grant access to each user individually.<\/p>\n

      You may wonder why we did it this way.<\/p>\n

      It’s so you can disable or enable SMS access for everyone with a couple of clicks.<\/p>\n

      But when SMS access is enabled, you may not want all users to have access.\u00c2\u00a0 That’s why this next step enables or disables access individually for each user.<\/p>\n

      1. Select User Management<\/strong> from the Manager<\/strong> toolbar.<\/li>\n
      2. Select a user from the list of users.<\/li>\n
      3. Click the SMS<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n
      4. Check the Allow sending of SMS Messages<\/strong> checkbox.<\/li>\n
      5. Click OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        The user should now be able to send SMS messages.<\/p>\n

        1. Click on the Short Messages<\/strong> button the toolbar and select Send SMS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        2. Click on the small button to the right of the Send To field<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        3. Select the client from the list.<\/li>\n
        4. Click OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        5. Type your message and click Send<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          You can also send SMS messages by selecting a phone message, right-clicking on it, and selecting Send SMS Message from the popup menu.<\/p>\n

          The caller details will be pre-filled for you.<\/p>\n
