  • ADDED: Email address has been added to some printouts.
  • FIXED: “Server updates can only be installed on a Server or Host PC” message has been removed.
  • FIXED: When sending a phone message, additional user details can be added for a new caller. PhonePad was creating two new callers in the Address Book instead of one.
  • FIXED: Lastname, Firstname for callers was not working.
  • FIXED: Address Book: If the Fullname was changed, the Firstname, Middlename and Lastname would be overwritten when they already contained names.
  • FIXED: There seem to be some issues with Named Pipes in Windows 10. We have rewritten the message notification system to use a different method for interprocess communication.
  • FIXED: On some systems the Workstation Notification Service setup program would continuously launch when the Workstation Notification Service was not running.
  • Minor fixes and improvements.

Important Information About MessageSender

This release is only compatible with MessageSender Version 6.18.0 or later.

Installation Information

Please note: Server Updates must be installed on your Server or Host PC, not your workstation (unless your workstation is also the Host PC) – they cannot be installed directly on your workstations.  Make sure all users are logged out of PhonePad as the PhonePad Server will be stopped during the update and then restarted once it has completed.  Workstations will be automatically updated when PhonePad 5 Workstation is started on each workstation. Important: When downloading and installing an update from your My PhonePad account, make sure it’s actually the update and not the server setup program.

How Updates Work

Please read: You do not need to install every update between this one and the last update you installed.  PhonePad uses a smart update system that compares your current PhonePad system with what’s in the update, works out what changes are required, and then makes those changes.

Updates and Anti-Virus Software

Depending on the anti-virus software you use, when you install a Server Update your AV software may class the updated software as a different program due to the change in binary signature.  If you experience speed or freezing issues after an update, you may need to reconfigure your AV software to stop real-time scanning of PhonePad.  This may need to be done on the both your Server or Host PC, and your workstations.

Downloading the Update

You can download the update from your My PhonePad account or by selecting Server Updates from the System Admin menu and clicking Check for Update (you will need to log in as an administrator). If you are a trial user you can also download the update by selecting Server Updates from the System Admin menu and clicking Check for Update (you will need to log in as an administrator). Please contact Support if you have any problems or questions.

Installing Updates

You will need to have a current Update Plan to install this update.  If your Update Plan has expired, you will need to renew it before you can install this update.

MessageSender Version 6.19.0 Has Been Released.

The award for the first release for 2021 goes to:  MessageSender.Log phone calls

MessageSender Version 6.19.0 is now available for download.  This release includes the following changes:

  • CHANGED – For some reason some mail systems can’t handle more than one recipient in an email (especially systems that forward the message on by SMS).  So to get around this problem, where there are multiple recipients, a separate email is sent for each recipient.
  • Minor fixes and improvements.

Important: this version requires PhonePad Version 5.63.0 or later.

Please note: You can download the update from your My PhonePad account.

Inbox and Other Folders Not Refreshing?

We discovered an issue where the Inbox and other folders are not refreshing when PhonePadnew messages are sent or received.

PhonePad uses a inter-process communication (IPC) method called Named Pipes to communicate.  This is built-in to the Windows OS.  From what we can tell, this has stopped working correctly due to a recent Windows Update.

Rather than waiting for Microsoft to fix this we have rewritten the Workstation Notification Service to use a completely different method of communication that we developed.  This was released as part of Version 5.64.0.

If you are experiencing this refresh problem then please install the Version 5.64.0 Server Update.

Systems Are Back Up Again!

After a few days of our systems being offline we are pleased to say that they’re all back up again.  The problems on the web server were finally resolved and everything is working again.

Apologies again for any inconvenience.

Some of Our Systems are Temporarily Down

Some bad news.

Many of our online system are temporarily offline due to some configuration issues with our web server.  Our web hosting service and ourselves are looking into the issue that suddenly occurred around November 20.

This was not caused by a cyber-attack or any form of infiltration.  All data is intact and safe.  We just need to find out what configuration settings were changed and then correct them.

We apologize for any inconvenience.
