After almost a week without our helpdesk system since the upgrade, we’re please to announce that it’s back online due to an enormous amount of help from the vendor and our web hosting service (HostGator).  Unfortunately many emails that were in the Support email account have somehow been lost in the process, so if you have sent us any support emails in the last few days, could you please re-send them!
Some Delays With Support System
Our aim is to respond to support requests within 24 hours. If you have contacted us for support in the last couple of days and have not received a response, we apologize for the delay and want you to know that we will respond as soon as possible. We upgraded our helpdesk system over the weekend and unfortunately there are some issues with it. We are in communication with the vendor to get it resolved as quickly as possible, but in the meantime it may take us a little longer than normal to get back to you.

Using a Network Share with PhonePad on Peer-to-Peer Networks.
If you are using PhonePad in Local Mode (the default connection method) on a peer-to-peer network then you will need to create a network share for the PhonePad data folder on the Host computer.
In this example, PhonePad has been installed on the G: drive. The PhonePad data folder is G:\PhonePad\Data. This has been made a shared folder by the CreateShare utility, and the share has been given the name PhonePadData (this is the default share name).
The Share Path in this example is \\MARS\PhonePadData (Mars is the name of the Host computer – yours, more than likely, has a different name).
This is what needs to be entered under the Local Database Directory setting in DBConnect on the other computers.
- Create the network share on the Host computer using the CreateShare utility.
- Make a note of the Share Path, eg. \\Mars\PhonePadData.
- Run DBConnect on the other computers and enter the Share Path in the Local Database Directory field, then click OK.
That’s it.

MessageSender 5 Has Been Released.
Christmas has come a little early for many of our PhonePad clients. After many, many, many requests from clients, I’m pleased to announce the release of MessageSender 5. This is a complete, from-the-ground-up, rewrite of MessageSender.
So what’s so good about this new version?
Well, for a start, it runs as a Windows service. That’s right, no longer do you have to leave your server or computer logged in to run MessageSender. As long as the machine is on and Windows is running, MessageSender will be running too. There have been a lot of requests for this and it’s finally here.
We have also added another SMS gateway provider, SMS Global, for forwarding PhonePad messages to your mobile/cell phones. And more providers will be added in the coming weeks and months, providing you with even more choices.
Included with MessageSender is the new MessageSender Manager application. It provides an easy way of configuring, monitoring and managing the MessageSender service.

You can download MessageSender 5 now. And best of all, it’s still free for all PhonePad users.
